2 rad Creeptales shows, etc...!

CREEPTALES have 2 totally rad shows coming up - the first is Friday June 11th @ Nick Gazin's MIDNIGHT TILL DEATH @ don pedro with The FOODS & HOLLYWOOD.

STAY TUNED for what I'm sure will be an amazing poster by Nick Gazin.

The next is a backyard BBQ show in Bushwick @ Pizza Forest with CYBELLE BLOOD (COASTING side project), GEFFIKA (from Chicago) and *tentatively* X-RAY EYEBALLS SATURDAY, JUNE 12TH.

stoked!

ALSO: in The Specific Heats news - the record is off at the pressing plant and our UK & Sweden Summer Tour '010 is coming together!
We still need to confirm a couple of dates in the UK and one in Gothenburg , but other than that we're good. It also looks like we'll have some sweet T-Shirts in time for tour as well!

double stoked!

And in life news, I'm headed to San Francisco for a week in a few days. Believe it or not, I've never been to the West Coast which is just stupid because I've always wanted to for one reason or another since 6th grade. While there, I hope to make some day trips out to Sacramento and surrounding areas. Who knows - if I like it enough I just might move there.
xoxo peace.

Creeptales first show!

Friends,
Im very pleased to announce our first show this Thursday, May 13th at Death By Audio with My Teenage Stride, Knight School, Big Troubles & Total Slacker.
I kind of have no idea whether people will even like us or not - it's been so long since I've started something from scratch, but I feel confident that Erik and I love playing these songs. We'll see, hopefully it's not too self-indulgent. I just played about 14 of our demos to my friends Frank & Amy and they gave me super-positive and enthusiastic feedback, so that's a good sign.
When I asked them how they would describe it they ultimately came up with Man...or Astro-Man? vs. Minor Threat vs. The Strawberry Alarm Clock. (or slightly psychedelic Surf-Hardcore). so we'll see.
Let me know what YOU think!

(Click on the flyer above for our MySpace page)

ALSO:
The Specific Heats new LP "CURSED!" is back on track for a JULY release!
Just in time for our UK/Sweden tour '010!

It's a co-release between FUN WITH ASBESTOS Records out of Boston, MA. and my NEW label "SAGANISM Records" (farewell to it's old name "Swim, Robot, Swim! Records"! RIP 2000-2009).

It will be available on LP - on 100% RECYCLED Vinyl with Recycled cardboard sleeves and will come with the Free Download Coupon!
It will also be available for digital download via iTunes, Amazon MP3, e music, etc.

I'm pumped!

introducing: Creeptales

So, yes, Erik (ex-Gutsies, now bass in The Specific Heats)& I have a new band.
We're called Creeptales and so far it's just the two of us - Erik on Drums & Vocals and myself on guitar and vocals. We're hoping to add one or two more members eventually, but it works with just us for now, so we're not waiting to start playing shows.

Erik & I are both writing the songs and bringing in stuff in either finished or unfinished states. You'll hear a couple of Doane-Givvaschittz tunes that we may have only gotten to play once or twice. It's a fun chance to just play wild & do whatever we feel like - so there are even a couple of tunes that I had started writing with the specific heats that were too awkwardly dark or "heavy" for the 'heats.

I'm pretty stoked about how it's going so far.

We haven't recorded any proper demos as of yet, but there are some recordings from practice up on our myspace page. More soon - as we've got over 20 songs in the works and just last night at practice recorded ourselves playing thirteen of them.

One of our favorites, actually, has not made it up on the page yet, a fast C&W tune, so there's plenty more to come.

As always, feedback is appreciated.

Afternoon Sun on BBC Radio

Oh yeah, by the way, BBC 6 Radio played an earlier rough mix of Afternoon Sun a little while back.
I taped it. Here it is: Afternoon Sun on BBC 6
Also, they had asked for an image from us back this past summer to accompany it, so I've included that as well.

progress on The Specific Heats: "CURSED!"

We've finally recorded and sequenced all 13 tracks for our upcoming LP,
"CURSED!". Hopefully now we can get someone to help us put it out and distribute it, because we're pretty broke now, but it was worth it.

This past weekend, we went back to Alex at his home-built, all-analogue amazing Mystic Valley Studio to record this one, called "Old News". We're all pretty stoked about the result, so I thought I'd share it.

In the next few weeks, we'll be finishing up the artwork and wrangling The Beachniks to do some back ups.

Then, we'll start sorting out our summer tour 2010 which will include returning to Indie Tracks in the UK! - we're very excited about it, btw ;)

Meanwhile, our new band, Creeptales (so far just Erik & I) will be getting our act together to play our first show which is coming up on April 16th with Eternal Summers somewhere in Brooklyn. Stay tuned for some of those demos as well.

In other news, one of my favorite music blogs, LADY PLAYS THE FUZZ recently posted 2 more great compilations including a 4th Volume to their excellent "Dark Clouds" series of my favorite stuff, moody mid-60s garage tunes. I came upon this blog about a year ago when I googled the phrase "Dark Clouds Descend" as I was thinking of using that as the title for the Specific Heats LP or for a 7" following. I couldn't have been happier with what I found!

Check them out!

Okay, now I'm going to try my best to stop coughing and get some sleep.
